COPAL – the bone cement with dual antibiotic protection ®
COPAL® bone cement contains effective protection from two antibiotics, gentamicin und clindamycin. These two active drugs have a synergistic bactericidal effect on more than 90% of the bacteria associated with infections within joint surgery
COPAL – the revision cement from Heraeus®
The generally elevated rate of postoperative infection with revision endoprosthetic surgery can be reduced by using COPAL® - the bone cement with two antibiotics. COPAL® is not only used to fix prosthetic components in revision procedures, but can also be used to replace aseptically and septically loosened prostheses (gentamicin and clindamycin sensitive bacteria) in an effective way. The local antimicrobal COPAL® is therefore the bone cement of choice, especially for infected endoprostheses
COPAL – high quality proven in practice®
COPAL® is based on the established PALACOS®R bone cement and it too has excellent processing properties and the typical green colour. Industrially produced Copal cement shows outstanding mechanical properties, clearly exceeding ISO 5833 requirements, despite the addition of two antibiotics.
